Certification entitles holders to be a part of the 5% set aside in the federal budget of $500 billion for businesses in this category. The program is available to help provide a level playing field for qualifying small economically and socially disadvantaged businesses.
Basic Requirements:
- Business must hold an active SAM registration.
- Business has never participated in the 8A program.
- Business must be at least 51% held by one or more US citizens who are economically and socially disadvantaged
- Business must be owned by individual whose net worth is less than $750 000
- Average adjusted gross income of individual for previous 3 years must be $350 000 or less
- It’s principals must demonstrate good character.
- Business must show potential for success.
